Aftercare
Saying goodbye to your beloved pet is already one of the hardest things to do. Thinking about how you wish to lay them to rest afterwards is an important part of the journey but can feel overwhelming at the time.

Below are some of the options available after home euthanasia. Please get in touch if you have any questions or need some help with making arrangements.
Burial
Many people choose to bury their pets at home. It can be very comforting to know that their final resting place is close and to have somewhere physical to visit, remember and honour them.
Uk law allows for the burial of pet animals at home as long as you own the land and the animal did not die of an infectious disease. It is recommended that you keep the site away from watercourses and ensure at least 2 feet of earth above the grave.

If your home is rented or if you have no outside space it would be necessary to consider a pet cemetery for burial or look at cremation for your pet.
Cremation
Private or individual cremation is where your pet is cremated by themselves so that the ashes can be returned to you. It can be an important part of saying goodbye and the grieving process to be able to keep them at home or scatter the ashes at a place with special meaning or good memories.

There are multiple independent pet cremation services covering our working area. We have worked alongside all of these companies and are confident that they always provide gentle and dignified care.
They are always happy to speak to you at any stage of your journey and talk you through the options available as you prepare.
